Cleveland Cyclewerks forays into India through the unveiling of two retro-inspired bikes, the Ace and Misfit.
Cleveland Cyclewerks has showcased the Ace and Misfit retro-themed bikes at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Ace further has three variants under it – Ace Scrambler, Ace Cafe and Ace Deluxe. The company is yet to announce prices for the bikes and if speculations are to be believed, the bikes are going to cost around Rs. 2-2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Cleveland Cyclewerks Misfit
The second-generation Misfit is a cafe-racer styled premium commuter. The bike features black-finished spoke wheels and gets a twin-pod instrument cluster with a digital display. Underpinnings include gold-finished inverted forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking performance comes from petal discs at both the ends.
Cleveland Cyclewerks Ace Scrambler, Ace Cafe and Ace Deluxe
The Ace Cafe is a cafe racer as most of you might have guessed already and gets a clip-on handlebar and single piece seat design. There is a two-pod instrument console like the Misfit but the one on the Ace Cafe, Scrambler and Deluxe miss out on the digital display. The Ace Cafe gets road-biased tyres while the Scrambler and Deluxe get block pattern tread (dual purpose) tyres. All the three bikes get a black front mudguard. While both the Ace Scrambler and the Ace Deluxe get street-style handlebar, the one on the Scrambler is finished in black and the Deluxe gets it finished in chrome.
Inverted forks are standard on the Deluxe and Cafe while the Scrambler gets a standard telescopic unit. The Ace Cafe gets gas-charged rear shock absorbers while the other two do with regular shock absorbers. Discs at both the ends are common to all the three bikes.
Common to all the four bikes is a 229cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 15.4 HP of power at 7000 RPM and 16 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Cleveland Cyclewerks will be locally assembling its motorcycles at its plant in Pune. The plant will have a production capacity 35,000 units per annum. The company has announced that it plans to open showrooms in 12-14 cities and by the end of 2018, it plans to have almost 35 dealerships across India.
