Clearer Spy Shots Showcase Equipment On 2015 Maruti S-Cross

Like the Ciaz, Maruti is ensuring to stack up the S-Cross with a host of goodies, while the front fascia gets subtle changes for the Indian market.

The 2015 S-Cross will come loaded with LED DRLs & HID projector lamps as standard

Maruti Suzuki will be launching its second premium product the S-Cross in the following months after receiving a good response for the Ciaz sedan. Set to compete against the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the likes in the compact SUV space, the S-Cross was spotted with minimal camouflage revealing all the vital details on the India spec model including the design updates.

First showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the 2015 Maruti S-Cross will get subtle revisions for the Indian version. The front grille has been changed to a thicker twin-slat chrome unit, while the alloy wheels sport a different design. The crossover gets black cladding on the front and rear bumpers as well the sides with scuff plates finished in brushed silver. Much like the Ciaz, the S-Cross rides on 16-inch wheels that are expected to be offered as standard.

In terms of equipment, the 2015 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will be feature loaded and we expect Maruti to keep the crossover kitted up right from the base variants. You will get HID projector lamps, LED daytime running lights, front and rear disc brakes, reverse parking sensors, start-stop system, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel as part of standard kit. The company is most likely to also offer the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system that debuted on the Ciaz along with Bluetooth connectivity on the S-Cross.

Powertrain still remains a mystery on the new S-Cross, but recent reports  suggest that Maruti will be offering two diesel engines on the crossover including the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel powering half of the company’s portfolio, while a new 1.6-litre diesel is also on the cards and will be sourced from Fiat. A petrol motor could be given a miss though, considering the lack of demand for the same in the segment. Set to launch in the first half of 2015, the S-Cross will play a major role to further consolidate Maruti’s position as a premium player in the Indian market.
