With just hours left for the official launch of the Yamaha YZF-R25 in Indonesia, clear spy shots of the R25 have flown in from the streets of Indonesia while on test. Scheduled to launch tomorrow in the Indonesian market, the Yamaha R25 is one of the biggest launches in the two-wheeler markets globally with the world media looking forward to see what the quarter-litre sports bike has in store for all. The spy images clearly showcase the appealing road presence the Yamaha YZF-R25 exudes.
A striking full-faired design, the front fascia gets twin headlamps cluster that looks striking, while the nose down-tail up design boasts of a sporty stance. The rear does resemble the Honda CBR250R to quite an extent. The earlier spy shots of the bike also confirmed our reports of the R25 being powered by a twin-cylinder unit that redlines at 14,000 RPM. The 250cc twin-cylinder motor is expected to produce around 35 PS of power, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. With a low kerb weight, the R25 will sport an excellent power to weight ratio as well.
A quick recap on the equipment list, the Yamaha R25 gets a 140 cross section tyre, clip-on handlebars; rear set foot pegs, LED tail lights and web-spoke alloy wheels, no USD forks on offer though. The rear however will sport a monoshock suspension setup. The instrument console gets an analogue tachometer with a digital speedometer that also displays all the vital information of the performance bike.
In terms of the Indian launch, the Yamaha R25 is expected only by next year in the country. While Yamaha will manufacture the R25 in India itself, the level of localization is still not known. Expect a price tag of Rs. 3 lakhs for the R25 that will put it directly against the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Suzuki Inazuma and the KTM RC 390 in the segment. In terms of safety tech, we do hope Yamaha offers ABS as standard on the R25. Make sure you stay tuned to MotorBeam, as we bring you the complete coverage of the R25’s launch tomorrow.
