Citroen’s first model in India will be the C5 Aircross SUV after which the brand will launch a car every year in succession, including a sedan.
PSA Group has announced the launch of the Citroen brand for the Indian market. The first vehicle that will be launched by the company in India will be the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV. It is scheduled to be launched by the end of the year 2020. The company also has plans to make several vehicles in India under the brand name and introduce them to other parts of the world. However, the company has announced that after the C5, they will launch one vehicle every year in succession, including a sedan as well. They are also focusing on a high level of localisation to keep the costs in check.
The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV has large dimensions with a rugged build. Measuring around 4.5-metres in length, the C5 gets large alloy wheels and high ground clearance. It also gets roof rails. The black body cladding on the sides of the vehicle gets red accents. Inside, the cabin gets a large flowing dashboard, a centre-mounted infotainment system surrounded by AC vents. Expect the SUV to be loaded with features when launched. The India-bound C5 Aircross SUV might see some changes as well but the same cannot be ascertained before the actual launch of the vehicle.
Coming to the vehicle, the Europen model of the SUV draws its power from two different mills – a 2.0-litre diesel engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. Upon its launch in India, the SUV could get mechanical changes as well as a manual transmission option.
