Citroen C3 Dark Edition Launched, Includes Cosmetic Updates & Meets E20 Compliance Regulations
Citroen has launched the dark edition of the C3 Hatchback. It is priced from Rs. 8.38 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The Dark Edition is a cosmetic package made for customers who want to enjoy a sporty presence on the road. The C3 Dark Edition will be made in limited numbers, however, exact details haven’t been revealed.
Styling Changes
The C3 Dark Edition, based on the top-spec C3 Shine, gets the new Perla Nera Black shade, like the other dark editions. There are also dark chrome badges, body mouldings and a dark chrome grille to contribute to the mean presence. The 15-inch alloy wheels are the same as the regular C3 hatchback.
Engine Options
The C3 Dark Edition is limited to cosmetic enhancements and hence, it has no mechanical changes. The Shine variant has two engine options. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine, producing 82 HP and 115 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The other option is a 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, producing 110 HP and up to 205 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Interior Changes
On the inside, the C3 Dark Edition gets black leatherette seats with lava red contrast stitching. There is also a carbon black colour used for the dashboard, steering wheel and centre console. Additionally, the gear lever and the AC vents also get black accents.
Introduction New Trims
With the Dark Edition, Citroen also launched the Feel trim level. The prices for the Feel trim are yet to be revealed. However, it is expected to slot between the base trim (Live) and mid-spec trim Feel (O). It will have the standard equipment including remote keyless entry, powered windows on all sides, electrically adjustable mirrors, LED DRL headlights, passenger sun visor with mirror, two airbags and a spare wheel.
The Feel (O) trim gets a few additional features, such as mirror-mounted turn signals and adjustable headrests on front seats. Not to mention, the C3 Shine is also available with a new black paint shade.
Outlook
It is important to note that all C3s are E20 compliant as per the government regulations that came into effect on April 1. Additionally, the C3 also carries a larger 45-litre fuel tank. Overall, these updates make the C3 a better package to recommend in a hyper-competitive market that includes the likes of Renault Kwid and Maruti Alto.
