We drove the Citroen C3 Aircross in the first week of August and now the French automaker has started accepting bookings for the vehicle. Powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, the C3 Aircross is slotted above the C3 hatchback and its prices start at Rs. 9.99 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Customers can book the vehicle by paying Rs. 25,000/- and the vehicle will be made available in three variants – You, Plus and Max – with 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. The 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers 110 PS and 190 Nm, and it is offered only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
At a time when every car in this segment gets an automatic gearbox, the C3 Aircross misses out on one which is quite unfortunate. In fact, the launch of the C3 automatic is also long due. We drove the vehicle extensively and found the driving dynamics to be quite sorted, however, it does miss out on a lot of features.
The vehicle gets equipment like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch instrument cluster, ESP, Hill Hold, TPMS, and manual AC. It gets a 511-litre boot capacity while the ground clearance is 200 mm.
The prices of the other variants aren’t announced yet but according to people close to the company, below are the prices of the rest of the trims –
1.2 Turbo – You | Rs. 9.99 Lakhs |
1.2 Turbo – Plus | Rs. 11.30 Lakhs |
1.2 Turbo – Max | Rs. 11.95 Lakhs |
5+2 Flexi Pro (only Plus and Max) | Rs. 35,000/- |
Dual Tone (only Plus and Max) | Rs. 20,000/- |
Vibe Pack (only Plus and Max) | Rs. 25,000/- |
While the pricing of the vehicle seems attractive for its size, buyers should also note that Citroen has a very limited sales and service network in the country. This segment is already crowded with products like the Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Taigun, Kushaq, Astor and the newly-launched Elevate so it’s not an easy one to crack. However, the C3 Aircross is the only one in the segment to get the option of a 7-seater and has the longest wheelbase in the segment.
