Citroen to launch C3 Aircross Electric based on the same platform
Citroen C3 Aircross was revealed recently for the Indian market, the carmaker is likely to launch the electric version of the 3-row SUV in the near future.
Currently, the French automaker sells eC3 in India, which is their first EV based on the C3 hatchback. On the same Common Modular Platform (CMP) they have come up with the new compact SUV C3 Aircross.
The C3 Aircross is all set to launch by September and the price will be announced at the same time. The carmaker will commence deliveries of the new product from October 2023.
At the media drive, the carmaker has confirmed that the same platform can accommodate an electric powertrain. We believe the C3 Aircross electric will be their second EV in India and it will be launched by the end of 2024.
We have no clue about the specifications yet. However, the eC3 hatchback gets a 29.2 kWh battery pack and is powered by a 56 BHP electric powertrain with 143 Nm torque. It offers a claimed range of 320 km on full charge. We can expect a larger battery for the C3 Aircross offering more range of around 400 km on full charge.
Meanwhile, Citroen has revealed some details of the C3 Aircross. It has a height of 1669 mm, width of 1796 mm and length of 4323 mm. It comes with the longest wheelbase in the segment of 2671 mm. In comparison, the Elevate has 2650 mm wheelbase, Creta has 2600 mm, Kushaq & Taigun have 2651 mm wheelbase.
The C3 Aircross has a boot space of 511 litres, which they claim is the best in its segment. It has a ground clearance of 200 mm with full flat underbody.
It has got a 7-inch TFT cluster and a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Gets triple row AC vents. Available in 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.
To get four customisation packs with 70 accessories. The custom packs include – Vibe, Elegance, Travel and Care. Offered in four monotone colours and 6 dual tone colour options. Interior colour options include bronze and grey.
It is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine producing 110 PS at 5500 RPM and 190 Nm torque at 1750 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There is no automatic transmission on offer as of now, it might be introduced later.
The Citroen C3 Aircross returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.5 km/l. The carmaker says this engine is tuned differently compared to the C3 hatchback. There is no diesel engine on offer.
