Citroen Basalt introductory pricing valid on deliveries till 31st October
Citroen Basalt coupe-SUV bookings open in India with an introductory starting price of Rs. 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). This introductory pricing is valid for all bookings with deliveries till 31st October 2024. Booking amount is Rs. 11,001/-.
The Basalt is the fourth model to emerge from Citroen’s C-Cubed programme, which focuses on the Indian market. Designed as an alternative to traditional midsize SUVs, the Basalt is positioned to directly rival the Tata Curvv.
The Citroen Basalt shares its underpinnings with the C3 Aircross but distinguishes itself through several key design elements. Notably, it features a unique sloping roofline, redesigned alloy wheels, distinctive LED tail-lamps and a dual-tone rear bumper. The Basalt is available in five monotone colour options – Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue and Garnet Red. The white and red variants also offer an optional contrast black roof.
Inside, the Basalt borrows its dashboard design from the C3 Aircross but includes some enhancements. It introduces contoured rear headrests and adjustable thigh support for rear seats, a first in its segment. Additionally, the Basalt offers a 470-litre boot capacity.
The Basalt comes equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and rear AC vents. On the safety front, it includes six airbags, electronic stability control, rear parking camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Under the hood, the Citroen Basalt offers two 1.2-litre petrol engine options. The first is an 82 HP, 115 Nm naturally aspirated unit paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The second option is a more powerful 110 HP turbo petrol engine, which comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission (producing 190 Nm of torque) or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox (delivering 205 Nm of torque).
The Citroen Basalt’s introductory price of Rs. 7.99 lakhs undercuts its competitors by a significant margin. Its rivals include the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and the MG Astor.
Citroen has yet to release the full price list for the Basalt, which is expected in the coming days. What are your thoughts on this introductory pricing? Let us know in the comments section.
