
Citroen Basalt & Aircross Dark Editions Launched, Help To Give A Sporty Appearance To The SUVs
Citroen has launched the Dark Edition for the Basalt and Aircross models. Both the SUVs get blacked out details that give a sporty appearance to the SUVs. However, both the SUVs get no mechanical changes. Let’s take a closer look at the Citroen Basalt and Aircross SUVs.
Styling Changes
According to Citroen, the front gets a darkened ‘moustache’ and the chevron logo. The most noticeable highlight is the Perla Nera Black exterior paint. Additionally, there are ‘Dark’ badges on the doors and boot, differentiating it from the other trim levels.
Engine
The Dark Edition is based on the top trims i.e. Basalt Max and Aircross Max. They are powered by the same 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 110 HP and 190 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There is a higher 205 Nm of torque available with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Interior Changes
The interior of the Basalt and Aircross features a gloss-black gear lever with red contrast stitching on the leatherette seats and door armrests, as well as ambient lighting that extends to the footwell. Additionally, it includes Citroën-branded seatbelt cushions and illuminated door sills. The dashboard is also wrapped in black leatherette, giving a distinct look as compared to before.
Outlook
The introduction of the Dark Edition means a significant step forward for the French automaker in capitalizing on demand in the Indian market. It is important to note that pricing for the Basalt starts from Rs. 12.80 Lakhs (ex-showroom) and the Aircross starts from Rs. 13.30 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Both of the SUVs help to create a sophisticated look combined with distinctive presence for the potential buyers.
