The Chevrolet Spin MPV has been showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and this is one car that could just turn around the company’s fortunes in India.
Chevrolet had started the homologation process of its Spin MPV last year and now the firm has finally showcased the vehicle at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo. The Spin’s front fascia is similar to any other Chevrolet with the familiar grille having the large bowtie logo. The bumper and fog lamps have a neat design while the headlamps add a bit of a flair to the car. The side profile looks typical van-like and the MPV also gets roof rails.
The rear of the Spin is quite quirky. The weird design of the D-pillar and the uniquely placed tail lights add a bit of funkiness to the design. The interiors of the MPV are pretty much straight forward and fuss-free. The 3-spoke steering wheel is similar to the one on the Cruze while the dashboard gets a two tone black+grey colour scheme. The centre console is again clutter-free and the AC controls are neatly placed at the bottom.
The Chevrolet Spin is powered by the same 1.3-litre diesel engine sourced from Fiat. This oil-burner is a popular engine powering a lot of cars. The engine produces 90 HP of power and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Spin will be launched later this year and it will fight it out with the Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy. Chevrolet’s sales are dwindling in the Indian market and the company needs a mass market car that would sell in high numbers.
