General Motors has announced a change in its product line-up for India, due to poplar consumer demand. The company will no longer be launching the Chevrolet Spin MPV as it has shifted focus to the much demanded Beat Activ, which was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Chevrolet has changed its product line up for India, and is moving fast to the changing trends and customer demands in the sub-continent. Thus, the company will be scrapping the 2017 launch of the Spin MPV in India, and instead will be shifting focus to the growing segments including SUVs.
The move will be kick-started by putting the Beat Activ into production. According to General Motors, the Beat Activ has received an overwhelming response from Indian stakeholders at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Beat Activ will be a soft-roader and will be ready for any adventure, while its interior keeps the passengers comfortable and connected.
General Motors also added that it will be expanding in the small car market with an exciting line up of products for India. It will launch the new generation Beat, Essentia compact sedan and the Beat Activ. The Essentia will replace the currently sold Chevrolet Sail, and will fall in the sub 4-metre sedan segment. These launches will also help General Motors increase their exports from India. The company managed to export 21,000 vehicles in 2015, to 40 countries including Chile and Mexico and expects a generous increase of 50,000 additional units with the launch of their new line-up.
The company also added that it has grand plans of launching at least five new models in India, over the course of 24 months. The models include the new Trailblazer, new Cruze, new Beat and Beat Activ, and the Essentia.
