Adding some spark to the sales of the Chevrolet Spark, the American auto giant has launched a special edition variant of the Spark hatchback, priced between Rs. 3.44 – 3.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The special edition variant gets features such as steering wheel cover, matching neck rests, ambient foot-well lighting, beige seat covers with red stripes, an exterior chrome kit, carpet floor mats, ORVMs with integrated turn signals, side body graphics in a choice of two colours and ‘Limited Edition’ badging.
Available for a limited time, the Spark limited edition variant comes in a choice of seven colours including Summit White, Switchblade Silver, Velvet Red, Sandrift Grey, Misty Lake Metallic, Linen Beige and Caviar Black. There have been no changes to the powertrain and the Spark continues to be powered by a 1.0-litre SMARTECH petrol engine that produces 63 PS of power at 5400 RPM and 90.3 Nm of torque 4200 RPM.
Chevrolet India’s most affordable offering, the Spark sports the new dual corporate grille in front with the Chevrolet bowtie in the centre and comes with clear lens headlamps. The limited edition variant also gets the standard company warranty of 3 years/1,00,000 kms. GM states that the limited edition variant with more features seeks to exceed the expectations of the customers. We feel it’s a little too late, GM needs to get over launching such special editions and should concentrate on bringing modern cars to the country.
