The Chevrolet Sail U-VA can take the award of being the most shot test car in India (obviously second to the mini-Xylo). The Chinese Sail hatchback was first unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo but the interiors remained a mystery for a long long time. Looking at interior pictures of the Chevrolet Sail from China, one was in disbelief if GM would offer such interiors against competitors such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20 and Nissan Micra. Recently some night shots of the interiors surfaced, but were not clear enough to expose the minute details.

Now we have got the clearest shot of the dashboard of the Chevrolet Sail U-VA and things don’t look bright. The interiors are finished in brown color and quality levels look far from impressive with panel gaps are certain places. We hope GM resolves these issues prior to launch as the cheaper Beat looks clearly better built and also boasts of an interior which is two-generations ahead of the Sail. While there are quite a few storage places on the Chevrolet Sail hatchback’s dashboard, the placement of the power window switches in the centre is nothing short of an ergonomic disaster. The instrument cluster looks plain and dated too.

On the outside, the Chevrolet Sail U-VA looks average, it doesn’t look bad but its not going to grab eyeballs either. The tyres are made by Apollo and the alloy wheels on the top end model are 14-inch in size. Overall the Sail doesn’t really look impressive infront of the competition but if priced well, the vehicle can carve a fan following amongst space and value seeking consumers. The Sail will be powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre petrol engine, which will be mated to 5-speed boxes. It will go on sale in October and is expected to carry a starting price of around Rs. 4.5 lakhs.
