The Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, the hatchback from GM India has been around in the Indian market for a long time without any facelift or upgrades to it. The competition in that segment has also increased and the car is not doing very well in terms of sales figures. However, GM India seems to be busy with development of the car in a silent manner and has plans to launch a new model of the product. According to the spy shots captured of the upcoming U-VA replacement, which was not featuring much of any camouflaging except at the place where it sports its company logo, it is very clear that GM hasn’t done much work in changing the design. The car looks very similar to the current model except featuring some sharp but good crease-lines that add some dynamism to the car. One can recall the spied car to be the Sail hatchback, which has been specially developed for emerging markets like India.
The interiors are beige and look quite spacious but cannot be judged very clearly from the spy shots. The car is expected to be powered by the 1.2 or the 1.4-litre petrol motors and also a diesel engine whose displacement figure is still not revealed (probably the Fiat 1.3-liter Multijet). The Sail hatchback might also be followed by a sedan that will be pitched against the Tata Indigo Manza and the upcoming new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. The car is not a special product for the Indian market. The car has already been launched in China in both sedan and hatchback variants. The facelifted car, what we conclude from the spy shots should do good numbers provided GM can price this product very competitively for the Indian market.
