General Motors are struggling to sell its Sail siblings and Enjoy MPV which didn’t awe Indian customers and now the Prisma’s appearance is similar to the Sail.
If you’re counting days for the 2016 Auto Expo which is going to be held in Noida in early February, then you really have to take a look at the Chevrolet Prisma which is to be showcased at the biennial event. General Motors is planning to bring their new sedan to India and this will directly take on the Honda City. The Prisma is sold in the Brazilian car market and this new sedan will be making its way to the Indian market.
General Motors is struggling to sell its Sail siblings and Enjoy MPV in the Indian market as customers prefer other alternatives which offer better design and quality. The Chevrolet Prisma too will have to undergo a lot of challenge to wow Indian customers who are as demanding as ever. The American manufacturer will showcase this product and gauge customer feedback if they should bring in this Honda City rival to India.
Presently, the Brazil spec Chevrolet Prisma is powered by 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and ethanol engines. When launched in India, the Prisma could be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. The 1248cc diesel engine develops 74 BHP and 190 Nm of torque while the 1199cc petrol unit produces 83 BHP and 108.5 Nm. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
GM India recently launched the TrailBlazer SUV and announced many new models for India by 2020. In the long run, Chevrolet is planning to bring in the next generation Cruze, Spin and Spin Activ to the Indian market, there are also plans to launch a compact SUV. General Motors are also pinning hopes to bring in the Prisma hatchback in the B2-segment to rival the Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. These new products will be manufactured at the company’s Talegaon facility.
