Once the BS6 norms are introduced in April 2020, Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto plans to introduce one new model every 3 months for the Indian 2-wheeler segment. The product line-up includes premium motorcycles, budget motorcycles, electric motorcycles, electric scooters and even electric bicycles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

In terms of price, CFMoto plans to rival Hero and Bajaj with competitive pricing starting with a planned reduction in its existing range. Currently, the 2-wheeler industry of India has been dominated by 4 major players – Hero, Honda, Bajaj and TVS who control 90% of the domestic market. The other known Chinese player in the domestic two-wheeler market is an Italian brand called Benelli, which is owned by the Chinese company Qianjiang Group.

CFMoto claims that the company has bikes going up to 1000cc and have a product after every 100cc. The brand is in a position to launch 12-13 motorcycles in India. It has a volume target of 15,000 units per year to facilitate a manufacturing presence, which could come up either in Bengaluru or Pune.

CFMoto launched the 300NK, 650NK, 650MT and the 650GT in the price band of Rs. 2.29 lakhs to Rs. 5.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The 650MT has attracted maximum buyers. Three more dealerships will be opening before December, and three more in January, taking the total to seven.

CFMoto is likely to bring its international range of electric 2-wheelers to India. The company intends to start its electric journey through the launch of electric bicycles that are scheduled for 2020.
