BYD eMAX 7

BYD eMAX 7 comes in two battery variants, offers range of up to 530 km

BYD eMax 7 electric MPV launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 26.9 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base Premium trim and going up to Rs. 29.9 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top-end Superior trim. Have a look at the complete price list below.

This 3-row electric vehicle is positioned to rival the Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid, which is priced between Rs. 25.97 – Rs. 30.98 lakhs (ex-showroom). The eMax 7, an evolution of the BYD e6 MPV that debuted in 2021, brings updates to both design and features, making it a fresh contender in the electric MPV segment. Deliveries are slated to begin in the coming weeks.

Design and Features

Externally, the eMax 7 carries forward BYD’s distinct design language, featuring mild updates to the headlamps and tail-lamps, along with redesigned bumpers that incorporate chrome accents for a more premium look. The MPV now rides on new 17-inch alloy wheels, fitted with 225/55 R17 tyres. Available in four colours – Quartz Blue, Harbour Grey, Crystal White and Cosmos Black – the eMax 7 offers buyers multiple aesthetic choices.

Inside, the most notable upgrade is the larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the 10.1-inch unit from the previous e6 model. The cabin is filled with soft-touch materials, enhancing the overall premium feel. The redesigned centre console includes two wireless charging pads and a new drive selector lever, while the steering wheel has also been refreshed. However, the instrument cluster retains its analogue dials, paired with a 5-inch LCD MID.

The top-spec Superior trim adds several high-end features, such as Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a fixed panoramic glass roof, powered and ventilated front seats, frameless wipers and roof rails. Both trims come equipped with six airbags, front and rear disc brakes, a 360-degree camera and standard safety features.

Performance and Range

The BYD eMax 7 is offered in two variants with different battery configurations. The Premium trim is powered by a 55.4kWh battery that delivers a claimed NEDC range of 420 km, while the Superior trim gets a larger 71.8kWh battery, offering up to 530 km on a single charge.

In terms of power output, the Premium trim generates 163 HP and 310 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/hr in 10.1 seconds. The Superior trim, with 204 HP and 310 Nm of torque, does 0-100 km/hr in a quicker 8.6 seconds. Both variants offer a top speed of 180 km/hr.

Charging capabilities include a standard 7kW AC charger, with the Premium variant supporting up to 89kW DC fast charging and the Superior trim handling up to 115kW. The eMax 7 also includes vehicle-to-load charging functionality, adding versatility for users.

Warranty and Availability

BYD India offers an 8-year/1.6 lakh km battery warranty as standard for both variants, while the electric motors come with an 8-year/1.5 lakh km warranty, providing a strong assurance of durability.

With bookings already open at a token amount of Rs. 51,000, the BYD eMax 7 presents itself as a competitive option in the growing electric MPV market in India, offering long-range capability and a well-rounded feature set aimed at families and urban commuters alike.
