Or are you a politician and with a grave threat to your life? Well, worry no more. Mahindra in a partnership with BAE systems is now offering bullet proof kits for your Mahindra Scorpio that can be purchased at *wait for it*, Snapdeal.com.
Online shopping portal Snapdeal has signed an agreement with Defence Land Systems, a Mahindra Group company to retail the bullet proof kit via the website. This is the first time that potential buyers have access to such kind of a product in the online space and is surely a radical approach towards selling armoured vehicles, which till date were a rather discreet affair. While purchasing a product online is a rather hassle free experience with cash-on-delivery and at-your-doorstep-returns policy, buying a bullet proof kit is slightly different.
The process for getting a bullet proof Mahindra Scorpio is rather very simple. You first purchase the Scorpio of your choice from a Mahindra showroom. Once you get the delivery, you place an online order on Snapdeal.com for the bullet proof kit for your SUV. Once the order has been placed, Defence Land Systems will get in touch with you; will pick up the SUV and add the bullet proof kit at the company’s workshop. The company is offering a two year warranty period on the bullet proof Scorpio.
While the partial booking amount payable for the bullet proof kit is Rs. 75,000/-, the total cost comes up to Rs. 12.66 lakhs with the balance to be paid at the time of delivery. The bullet proof kit comprises of all side bullet proof panels, bullet proof glasses, a vehicle tracking device and an anti-explosion material kit for the fuel tank. Snapdeal and BAE provide the NIJ Level 2 kit that protects against 9 mm bullets for protection-in-transit solutions to the citizens. Expect the fuel efficiency to take a huge toll though. Both the companies are surely cashing in on the election season with the bullet proof kit on offer.
The Mahindra Scorpio is available in two engine options with the 2.5-litre M2DiCR turbo diesel engine producing 75 BHP and 220 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox that comes with the base EX variant.
