The launch of the BSA Gold Star was supposed happen in Europe this month
BSA Motorcycles has revealed its Gold Star will be available for sale from May in the UK and key EU markets to begin with. The middleweight bike was supposed to arrive this month.
Unveiled in December last year, the new Gold Star is the first new product from the resurrected brand. Sporting proper old school looks, the motorcycle came with a big single-cylinder engine and not a parallel twin unit like its competition.
Displacing 652cc, the 4-valve, liquid-cooled motor is good for a maximum of 45 BHP and 55 Nm or torque. It is teamed to a 5-speed gearbox and also features an assist and slipper clutch.
A direct rival to the very popular Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, the Gold Star weighs 213 kg, has adjustable rear suspension, wire-spoked wheels, and proper brakes with dual channel ABS.
The reason why the BSA Gold Star launch has been delayed is rather straightforward. The bikemaker is currently working on expanding its dealer network overseas, specifically in the UK and select EU markets.
While the Gold Star, which is manufactured in India, will also head to the USA and South American markets in the coming months, BSA is expected to introduce it in India as well, as soon as possible that is.
