BSA Gold Star Features

BSA Gold Star 650 likely to launch in India on the Independence Day, teased

The BSA Gold Star is scheduled to make its entry into the Indian market on 15th August, 2024. BSA has recently released a teaser highlighting the motorcycle’s key features, including a 650cc single-cylinder engine and the iconic BSA logo.

The Gold Star is powered by a 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, delivering 45 HP at 6500 RPM and 55 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. This power is managed through a 5-speed gearbox. The bike features a telescopic fork at the front, twin shock absorbers at the rear and wire-spoke wheels. Braking is handled by single discs on both ends, with ABS included as standard.

Visually, the Gold Star draws significant inspiration from its predecessor, evident in its fuel tank design, curved fenders, side panels and extensive chrome detailing. These elements collectively pay homage to the classic BSA aesthetic while incorporating modern engineering and safety standards.

In the UK, the Gold Star is priced between £6500 and £7000, whereas its direct competitor, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, is priced slightly lower at £6400 to £6900. The pricing strategy for the Indian market remains to be seen, particularly since the Gold Star will be manufactured locally. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is currently available in India starting at Rs. 3.03 lakhs (ex-showroom).

As the Gold Star positions itself as a rival to the well established Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, potential buyers will weigh the choice between a single-cylinder motorcycle and a twin-cylinder counterpart. The decision could hinge on various factors, including performance preferences, brand loyalty and pricing.

BSA is encouraging potential customers to share their views on whether they would prefer the single-cylinder BSA Gold Star over the twin-cylinder Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, given their comparable pricing.

The launch of the BSA Gold Star in India marks a significant moment for the brand, blending nostalgia with contemporary motorcycle engineering. How it will fare against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in the Indian market will be closely watched by enthusiasts and industry analysts alike.
