Yamaha is updating their lineup soon for BS6 compliance and the updated bikes lose power.
It’s that time for car and bike manufacturers to upgrade their vehicles for BS6 compliance. April 2020 deadline is getting close and we can see automakers updating their lineup. One of them is Yamaha and while it is a good move to update early, bike enthusiasts might be disappointed as the BS6 Yamaha bikes will lose power.
The leaked specifications of the upcoming Yamaha R15 V3 BS6 shows 13.7 kW (18.64 PS) of power while the BS4 version makes 14.2 kW (19.3 PS) which means about 0.70 PS of power loss. There are no other changes to the updated bike apart from the BS6 mechanicals.
The Yamaha FZ series on the other hand makes 9.1 kW (12.4 PS) with the updated BS6 motor while the current BS4 version makes 9.7 kW (13.2 PS) which means around 0.80 PS of power loss.
The updated BS6 compliant Yamaha motorcycles will start shipping from November. The current BS4 versions are available with discounts and offers from dealers to clear the stock.
