BS6 Kawasaki Z900 has just hit the showrooms with a price tag of Rs. 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The updated motorcycle gets a price hike of Rs. 30,000/- compared to the 2019 BS4 model.
This comes as a surprise since Kawasaki announced in December 2019 that the BS6 bike would cost around Rs. 8.5-9 lakhs (stock clearance strategy?).
The premium over the BS4 model seems to be justified since the Z900 update gets more features and cosmetic tweaks along with the updated engine.
It comes with all-LED lights including headlight, tail light and turn indicators. The tank extensions and tail gets slightly revised as well.
There is a new TFT instrument cluster on offer with bluetooth connectivity. Tech savvy riders can connect their smartphone with the Kawasaki Rideology app.
It also gets 3-level Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) system with two power modes – Low and Full. In addition to this, there are four riding modes on offer – Sport, Road, Rain and Rider.
Powering the bike is a 948cc in-line four-cylinder engine that churns out 123 BHP at 9500 RPM and 98.6 Nm of peak torque at 7700 RPM. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.
Kawasaki has given the BS6 model new Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 tyres. They say the suspension setup has been tweaked for better handling.
It comes with dual 300 mm petal discs at the front and single 250 mm petal disc at the rear. The bike is equipped with dual-channel ABS.
The Kwacker competes with the Triumph Street Triple R and BMW F 900 R in the Indian market.
