Hero MotoCorp is likely to soon launch the BS6-compliant Xtreme 200S motorcycle in our market. The BS6 version of the motorcycle has been listed on the website with the tagline “coming soon” since quite a few months now.
Launched a year ago, the fully-faired motorcycle received muted response while it was on sale. Another 200cc bike from the Indian firm, the Xpulse 200, for instance, did better than the Xtreme 200S.
Essentially a faired version of the Xtreme 200R that was launched two years ago, the Xtreme 200S was powered by a 199.6cc, air-cooled single cylinder engine that made 18.4 PS at 8000 RPM and 17.1 Nm at 6500 RPM in its BS4 form.
Now, the power figure produced by the engine might not take a hit when it comes in its BS6 form, but how it delivers its power might change a bit. Also, like the Xpulse 200, it is set to gain an oil-cooler as well.
While, Hero might offer new paint schemes on the motorcycle along with the BS6 update, no other changes are expected to be made to the bike.
Thus, it will come with LED headlight and tail light, digital instrument cluster, adjustable rear monoshock and single-channel ABS like the BS4 model.
Further, we do not expect tyre sizes to change either, but the weight of the bike might go up by a small margin. The BS4 version came in at 149 kg.
When the BS6 Hero Xtreme 200S launch takes place, we can expect the bike to be pricier to the tune of Rs. 10,000/- in comparison with the BS4 model.
One other thing to note is that Hero has also listed the BS6 Xpulse 200T on its website, suggesting its launch is not far.
