The Renault Duster is one of the most sought after products in the compact SUV segment not only in India but globally as well. To commemorate the sales of 1 lakh units, Renault Brazil has launched the Duster Road Tech II Edition in the country. The special edition is in its second avatar after the Road Tech I special edition was launched in September last year in the Brazilian market. The special edition however, comes on the pre-facelift variants that are currently on sale in the country.
The Renault Duster Road Tech II Edition gets changes on the exterior with black masks for the headlamp units, the dark star grille, blackened roof rails, grey ORVMs and 16-inch alloy wheels. Other changes also include blackened air inlets, lower body cladding and the Road Tech II decals on the boot-lid. On the interior front, the changes come with Renault’s 7-inch multimedia display touch screen system and navigation. The Road Tech II special edition is being offered on the Dynamique variant (top-end trim) only and will also get features such as rear parking sensors, ABS and dual front airbags as standard.
The Duster Road Tech II edition does not receive any mechanical changes and will be available only with the 2.0-litre 16V engine that produces 138 BHP (petrol) or 142 BHP (ethanol) of power and 197 Nm (petrol) or 209 Nm (ethanol) of torque. The engine will be mated either to a 6-speed manual transmission available with 4×2 and 4×4 or a 4-speed automatic transmission only available with the 4×2.
The Renault Duster has been facing stiff competition from the Ford EcoSport not only in India but in other markets as well. The French automaker has resorted to the launch of limited edition models to keep the Duster fresh and updated amidst competition. The Indian 1st anniversary edition was launched earlier in October this year, and now Brazil has the Road Tech II edition. We also saw the military Duster that was showcased at a military parade in Romania based on the updated Duster. Renault unveiled the facelift of the Duster earlier this week and will showcase it at the Auto Expo in February 2014 with the launch taking place in March.
