BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition Brings The Manual Transmission & New Colours To The Convertible Sportscar
BMW has finally brought the manual transmission into the BMW Z4 M40i in India. It is known as the Pure Impulse edition and is priced at Rs. 97.9 Lakh (ex-showroom). The option of the 8-speed automatic transmission is still available for a lower price. The Pure Impulse edition also brings a few cosmetic enhancements to the convertible sportscar.
Styling
The most notable highlight on the exterior of the Z4 M40i is the staggered wheel setup, with M-sport twin spoke alloys measuring 19-inch and 20-inch at front and rear respectively. There is also a red finish for the brake calipers and a black finish for the doors and side mirror caps.
The two new colour options with the Pure Impulse edition are Frozen Deep Green and Sanremo Green. Alternatively, you can spec the M40i from the existing colour palette.
Engine
The BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition is powered by the familiar 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-6 engine producing 340 HP and 500 Nm of torque. It sends power to the rear wheels via the 6-speed manual transmission or the 8-speed ZF torque converter automatic transmission.
The 0-100 Km/hr rotation happens in a blistering 4.5 seconds with the automatic transmission and 4.6 seconds with the manual transmission.
Interior
On the inside, the M40i Pure Impulse edition gets Vernasca Cognac leather upholstery. The manual variant is the one that gets contrast stitching. The regular Z4 M40i has to make do with all-black leather upholstery.
Features
The standard equipment includes a dual 10.25-inch infotainment system and driver display, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting. Additionally, there are electrically adjustable front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat and wireless phone charging.
The Pure Impulse edition also gets a myriad of optional packages such as lumbar support for the driver and passenger, M-seat belts. Not to mention, adaptive LED headlights, interior and exterior mirror package, Harmonn Kardon sound system, parking assistant and head-up display.
Market Competition & Unique Positioning
The BMW Z4 M40i is a rival to the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet but it is centered around offering a luxurious experience. A comparison could be done with the BMW M2, however, it is a more focused sportscar. It can be observed that the Z4 M40i is in a unique position compared to most of the offerings.
