This is a front-wheel drive version of the BMW X1 in M-Sport trim.
BMW India has just launched the X1 front wheel drive with the M-Sport trim. This variant is priced at Rs. 41.50 lakhs (ex-showroom) and is aimed at those people who want the M-Sport package but now with the AWD xDrive trim.
On the exterior, the BMW X1 sDrive20d M-Sport features a new front bumper with larger vents and a rear bumper with integrated diffuser as part of the M-Aerodynamic package. It also gets side skirts, body-coloured cladding on the wheel arches and sides. A kidney grille with gloss black slats and M logos and door sills are also included in the package. The car rides on 18-inch M dual-tone alloy wheels. LED headlamps with LED DRLs come as standard across all X1’s.
The interiors of the BMW X1 sDrive20d M-Sport too receive an update. It gets a 2-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, multi-function sport leather steering wheel with a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof. The car comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with iDrive, Navigation, BMW Apps and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Powering the BMW X1 sDrive20d M-Sport is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. It produces 190 HP at 4000 RPM and 400 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 RPM. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV comes with launch control for the quickest start from a standstill and paddle-shifters for when you feel enthusiastic. It can do 0-100 km/hr in 7.6 seconds and top speed is rated at 219 km/hr.
Like all BMWs, the new X1 M-Sport gets 6 airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, traction control, ISOFIX child safety seat anchors and run flat tyres. The safety features should help in ensuring better control over the car and passenger well-being in case of an accident.
The BMW X1 sDrive20d M-Sport competes with the Volvo XC40, Mercedes GLA and the Audi Q3.
