Mr. Praful Patel, Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has unveiled the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept Car in presence of Mr. Thomas Matussek, German Ambassador to India. The Vision EfficientDynamics is powered by a 3-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with two electric motors at the axles. This 328hp motor produces 290NM of torque and enables the car to reach 100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 250 kmph. With just 99g/km CO2 emissions, the Vision has a cruising range of 700 kms and can run on both hybrid motor or engine.
This BMW has a height of 1.24 meters, length of 4.6 meters and width of 1.9 meters. Riding on 195/55/21 wheels, the Vision has a drag co-efficient of just 0.22. It features all the advance technology features including brake energy regeneration. The Lithium-ion battery charges in 2.5 hours from a standard power socket. The 2+2 seater has its roof and doors made of poly carbonate glass which automatically becomes dark when the external lights are bright.
With a claimed mileage of 26.5 kmpl (according to EU test cycle), the Vision EfficientDynamics will first be launched in Europe. The car is still at concept stage and BMW has no plans to launch it in India.
