BMW has revealed a new ‘M Performance’ package for its upcoming 4-Series coupe. The Bavarian automaker released a set of images last month for its all-new 4-Series that is a coupe version of the regular 4-door, 3-Series sedan. BMW has added several exterior changes and performance mods that will be offered under the M Performance package for the coupe. The first look at the stance of the 4-Series coupe with M performance kit ignites an adrenaline rush. The performance package offers a lot of styling tweaks with clues of traditional design of ‘M’ series BMWs.
The package loaded BMW 4-Series sports a new front bumper with large air ducts along with carbon fibre treatment at the base. The headlamps get the new LED cluster that adds more brightness to the front design. The body flanks are done with carbon-fibre ORVM housing and a wide flare that lays over the sharp crease at the doors. The front fenders also get sleek air vents along with treated side sills and 20-inch razor-sharp design alloy wheels. The boot gets a new curved, carbon fibre spoiler while the rear bumper looks purely sporty with integrated diffuser and dual exhausts.
The interior gets subtle changes and the carbon fibre treatment is prominent inside the cabin. The upholstery is in dark colour to match the sporty dynamics of the performance version. The centre console, dashboard and gear knob are enriched with significant use of carbon fibre. The three spoke race-inspired steering wheel gets a nice touch of carbon fibre and M Performance logo (also placed on the dashboard). The pedals wear new steel finished coverings over them.
The most essential changes that are brought down to the 4-Series coupe with new performance kit are the performance upgrades. BMW has boosted power figures with the adoption of advance performance exhaust and remapping that also helps to maintain CO2 and fuel consumption levels similar to the regular 4-Series. The 420d model is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder common rail diesel engine which produces 195 BHP of power and 418 Nm of torque with the package that gives an additional 16 BHP and 39 Nm over than the standard version.
A boost of an additional 27 BHP and 39 Nm is given to the 428i with the total power raised to 269 BHP and 389 Nm. The top-end 435i variant is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, direct-injection petrol engine whose power figures are shining at 336 BHP and 450 Nm with an extra 34 BHP and 50 Nm punch. 4-Series owners can either buy the complete M Performance package or opt for individual enhancements under the package from BMW dealerships.
The BW 4-Series coupe is due for its world premiere at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and the vehicle will be first launched in the US market by the end of September. The 4-Series is expected to reach Indian shores by early-2014, with an Auto Expo debut likely.
