The RR 310 of BMW will be the German brand’s first entry-level full faired 300 cc sports bike
Out of nowhere, BMW Motorrad India has flaunted a teaser on its Instagram page about what would be its upcoming 310 cc sports bike with the legendary ‘RR’ tag. And to spice things up a bit, we tell you that the launch of the bike is going happen very soon, that’s 15th July.
As of now, we only have 1 image pictured above but let’s get going. From the teaser, it’s quite evident that the upcoming sports bike is more of a rebadge job as everything from the rear looks identical to the existing TVS Apache RR 310.
The dual inverted V shaped LED tail lamp, the rear cowl, LED indicators, and tail tidy are a direct lift from the TVS’ sports bike. In fact, even the silhouette of the smudged fairing looks exactly like that of the Apache. There’s no change to the windshield too.
However, in the place of the number plate, the bike, on the teaser, sports a triangular metal plate that has the brutal ‘RR’ tag. This means the bike’s name will definitively sport it.
We guess it will be placed at the end of the name and displacement number something like BMW S 310 RR as the TVS’ version of the bike is already a super sport challenging bikes that a much bigger like the KTM RC 390.
Despite being a single cylinder with a rather small 312 cc engine, TVS Apache RR 310 has some serious numbers to boast. It can hit 60 km/hr in 2.93 seconds while ton comes in 7.17 seconds. The super sport can hit genuine a top speed of 166 km/hr.
TVS has loaded the bike with some serious tech and features too. It gets a 5-inch colour TFT screen with connected features including race telemetry, dual-channel ABS, 3 ride modes with electronic throttle control, slipper clutch, Michelin Road 5 tires, etc.
Above all, the bike has been wind tunnel tested for achieving the perfect real world aerodynamics unlike many of its competitors which relied only on CFD software for analysing the drag.
The TVS Apache RR 310 already being perfect package could be the reason why BMW has just-like-that adopted it and went with the rebadge. But, the upcoming bike will sport BMW specific paint job with the signature white dominant shade.
Currently, TVS Apache RR 310 and BMW’s naked, the G 310R, command a price tag of Rs. 2.65 lakhs while BMW’s adventure bike, the G 310 GS, comes at a premium of Rs. 3.05 lakhs. So, the upcoming bike will be launched at a price tag of around Rs. 3-3.2 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom).
When launched, it will compete against the likes of the recently launched 2022 KTM RC 390, 2022 Kawasaki Ninja 300, and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.
