BMW Motorrad has revealed the Definition CE 04, a near-series version of its Concept Link, a zero-emissions urban mobility scooter concept that was shown a few years ago.
According to BMW, with its electric drive, striking design and innovative connectivity solutions, the Definition CE 04 will redefine the scooter segment.
The electric scooter has sharply designed edges, elongated and low-slung body and at the rear, the side panels (shaped like wings) do not cover the components and allow the drive unit, among other things to be seen.
Shown in Mineral White Metallic with Matt Black sections (that form the core of the vehicle), the BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 gets LED front lights, while the rear lights have been integrated into the rear side panels in the form of two C-shaped light elements. Also, there is a “floating” bench seat too.
There are no two ways about it, the scooter has a stunning profile, though some might deem it as polarising. It even has a 10.25-inch display.
Due to it being electric-powered and due to the design, the scooter has an illuminated storage compartment that is accessed from the side. Further, BMW claims to have concentrated more on the ergonomics.
While BMW could have stopped there, it went further and developed rider equipment exclusively for the electric scooter which includes a parka with flexible protectors, black riding jeans, sneakers and a white open face helmet.
The waterproof parka also has innovative features such as the integrated light guides in the sleeves and hood which can be switched on and changed in colour via sensors in the sleeve. Also, the inside pocket of the parka has an inductive charging field for one’s mobile phone.
We must take notice of this scooter for it continues BMW Motorrad’s electromobility strategy for urban conurbations and provides a concrete preview of what a contemporary production vehicle could look like.
