The sales of performance vehicles in India has been increasing by a huge margin since the last few months. While Mercedes-Benz has been on a product offensive, BMW too has been launching some new models in the country. The company launched the new M3 and M4 earlier this year and now the German automaker has inaugurated the first ever M Studio in Mumbai. The M Studio will showcase all the performance offerings by the automaker. We had reported about the M Studios two months back.

The BMW M Studio is located in Juhu in Mumbai. The showroom will display the M3, M4, M5 and M6 models. Mercedes also introduced similar AMG Performance Centres at strategic locations in the country and these centres have boosted the sales of AMG cars significantly. The M Studio works on a similar concept and will generate some intense competition amongst the Germans. Audi also sells its performance RS range of cars in the country but they are sold in regular Audi showrooms alongside other models.

The company also launched the 2015 M6 Gran Coupe along with the M Studio and the vehicle is priced at Rs. 1.70 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The M6 Gran Coupe is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine that churns out 560 PS of power which goes up to 575 PS if you buy the optional Competition Package. The exteriors see mild tweaks to the bumpers and lights while rest of the other stuff remains the same.

BMW is now looking to open 6 more M Studios in the country by the end of 2016. These studios will be located in various metros across the country. The German automaker is also looking to invest Rs. 100 crore in its finance arm that would attract more buyers to their showrooms due to easier loan disbursement. While Audi and Mercedes are selling their products in pretty good numbers every month, BMW is falling short of sales.
