BMW M5 Competition has been launched in India, it is a more powerful version of the regular M5.
BMW India has introduced a sportier sibling of the M5 and it is called M5 Competition. Priced at Rs. 1.55 crores (ex-showroom), the M5 Competition is around Rs. 10 lakhs more expensive than the regular M5. What’s the difference between the two? Well, minor cosmetic changes on the exterior and interior along with a slightly more powerful engine.
The exterior of the BMW M5 Competition comes with exclusive gloss black elements and chrome tail pipes. There is ‘Competition’ lettering along with the black M5 badge.
The interior also gets sporty elements. Equipment on offer is similar to the regular M5 including BMW Gesture Control, BMW Display Key, Wireless Charging, BMW Head-Up Display and Wireless Apple CarPlay. An ‘M Competition’ graphic appears in the instrument cluster display during start up. It also gets Surround Sound system from Harman Kardon with 16 speakers and 600 Watts of output.
Powering the M5 Competition is the same M TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine that churns out 625 HP at 6000 RPM and produces a peak torque of 750 Nm. 0-100 km/hr comes up in 3.3 seconds, which is .1 second quicker than the regular M5. The power output of the M5 Competition is only 25 HP more than the regular version while the torque remains unchanged.
The fire breathing V8 engine is mated to a 8-speed M Steptronic transmission. The M Exhaust system comes with electrically controlled flaps for better efficiency and unique sound.
The BMW M5 Competition is loaded with safety features such as Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), M Dynamic Mode (MDM), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dry Braking function and Active M Differential.
