BMW M2 Competition India Launch In 2018

BMW M2 Competition India launch in 2018, will rival the Ford Mustang.

The BMW M2 Competition will be offered with a host of optional features

BMW is all set to drive in the new M2 Competition sports coupe in India in the coming few months. The M2 is said to be the purest M car and for the Indian market, it will only be available in the Competition trim. The Competition package offers a bump in performance and some styling enhancements too. When launched, the M2 will take on the likes of the Ford Mustang and the Porsche 718 Cayman.

The BMW M2 Competition will be powered by the same 3.0-litre TwinTurbo engine that does duty on the M3 and the M4 Coupe. The petrol powertrain belts out 405 HP of power and 550 Nm of peak torque. Mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the M2 is capable of doing the 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 4 seconds, while the same takes 4.2 seconds when coupled with the 6-speed manual gearbox. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hr. It remains to be seen if the automaker will offer the optional M Driver’s Package which will take the top speed to 280 km/hr. The M2 is a rear-wheel drive car with the engine being housed in the front, so there’s a usable boot.

BMW will sell you the M2 in five different colours along with one standard all-black interior trim. However, M Sport seats, Apple CarPlay, Harmon Kardon audio system, BMW Apps and inbuilt navigation will be available as optional extras. That said, there will be a full-sized spare wheel offered as standard. The German carmaker will also offer M Performance Parts which include parts such as rear spoiler, rear diffuser, side skirts, exhaust tips, roof and boot lid made from carbon fibre along with the BMW M Brake Package. All these will be offered as optional extras though.

The M2 is expected to be priced at around Rs. 85 lakhs (ex-showroom) without options. With options included, prices are likely to cross the Rs. 1 crore mark depending on how the car is finally specced.
