After releasing the teaser, BMW Motorrad has announced that it has opened bookings for 3 K 1600 bikes and the 2022 R 1250 RT
BMW Motorrad had released a teaser video signalling the impending launch of its K 1600 model range in India. Now, the brand has announced that it has opened bookings for 4 tourer motorcycles.
Those motorcycles are the 2022 BMW R 1250 RT, K 1600 B, K 1600 GTL and K 1600 Grand America. All these bikes will be introduced in the market this May.
The K 1600 GTL is based on the K 1600 GT and comes with more comfortable ergonomics including a standard topcase. The K 1600 B is a bagger-style machine and Grand America is a long-distance cruising machine based on the ‘B’.
The K 1600 range come with LED lights with adaptive headlight, a 10.25-inch TFT colour display with integrated map navigation and connectivity, an audio system (GTL and Grand America), electronic suspension with fully automatic load compensation, and USB-C charging option, emergency call among others, as standard.
The entire 2022 K 1600 range from BMW is powered by a 1649cc, in-line 6-cylinder engine that is tuned to deliver 158 BHP and 180 Nm. BMW says it has updated the motor with new engine control, knock sensor system and revised emission concept as well as engine drag torque control (MSR).
Recently, BMW of North America issued a recall for 1625 units of its K1600 line-up (GT, GTL and B) from the 2019 and 2020 model years because of a suspension issue. The brand said the link strut on select number of bikes has insufficient strength and may become damaged. The recall will begin this March.
The 2022 BMW R 1250 RT also comes with LED lights, a 10.25-inch TFT screen with integrated map navigation, Audio System 2.0, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC), 3 riding modes, among other features. It is powered by a 1254cc 2-cylinder boxer engine (136 HP and 143 Nm).
