BMW K 1600 B
Daunting presence, muscular looks and the in-line six-cylinder engine roar is what the BMW K 1600 B is all about. The German automaker describes this motorcycle as a ‘Bagger’ wherein the ‘B’ in K 1600 B stands for Bagger. The motorcycle gets a dynamic windscreen, fully-chrome plated silencers, 5.7-inch TFT colour screen, heated seats, audio system and LED blinkers & tail-light. Being a cruiser, not only does it get a relaxed seating position but also comes fitted with footboards that allow the rider to take a convenient ‘feet forward’ posture.
To make parking a breeze, the K 1600 B also features a Reverse Gear which is actually a boon, when you consider it’s unladen weight of 336 kgs. The motorcycle is powered by a 1649cc six-cylinder motor that churns out 160 HP of power at 7750 RPM and 175 Nm of torque at 5250 RPM. Suspension duties are carried out by the Duolever system up front which consists of a central spring strut and the Paralever suspension at the rear with a monoshock. Top speed is rated at over 200 km/hr and there are three riding modes – Rain, Road and Dynamic. Safety features include ABS, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), Dynamic ESA, Cruise Control, Hill Start Control and Adaptive Headlight. The BMW K 1600 B is priced at Rs. 29 lakhs (ex-showroom).
BMW R nineT Racer
The name of the motorcycle itself is as unique as the motorcycle is. A classic cafe racer it is and as usual gets all the retro cafe racer design elements like the round headlight, low-slung handlebar, one-man hump seat and the rear-set footpegs. The R nineT Racer takes design inspiration from the 1970s motorsports. It features a semi analogue and digital circular instrument cluster which shows information like time, active gear, remaining range, trip distance, service interval, average speed and fuel consumption. For riders who don’t want to go solo, BMW Motorrad accessories offers an option of a bolt-on passenger frame complete with seat and footrests.
The R nineT Racer is powered by a 1170cc air/oil-cooled motor that churns out 110 HP of power at 7750 RPM and 116 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, top speed is rated at over 200 km/hr. The motorcycle gets standard telescopic forks up front and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is via twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear with ABS as standard for added safety. The vehicle also gets ASC (Automatic Stability Control) in order to prevent the rear wheel spinning on slippery roads. Fuel-tank capacity is rated at 17-litres while the motorcycle tips the scales at 220 kgs (unladen weight). The BMW R nineT Racer is priced at Rs. 17.30 lakhs (ex-showroom).
