The bike has been launched along with the BMW G 310 R which is its street naked cousin.
The BMW G 310 GS has finally entered the Indian shores. It is branded as an adventure tourer and is meant for those who like to take their bikes on the road less travelled. The bike has been priced at Rs. 3.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The BMW G 310 GS takes its design inspiration from BMW’s bigger GS family of motorcycles. The riding position is ergonomic and the rider sits upright to avoid fatigue in long distance riding and while traveling on undulating roads.
To make the bike available to people of various heights, BMW is offering three seat height options – a standard seat height of 32.9 inches, a lower option with a 32.3 inch seat height and a tall seat with 33.5 inches height.
It will share its engine with the BMW G 310 R which has also been launched along with it. The 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve DOHC engine comes in the same state of tune, churning out 34 BHP at 9500 RPM and 28.4 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission.
In the hardware department though, the BMW G 310 GS receives some changes. The suspension on the 310 GS offers increased travel, with both front and rear suspension offering 180 mm of travel. The G 310 GS gets a 19-inch front wheel whereas the G 310 R comes with a 17-inch front wheel. Both these changes will help in increasing the G 310 GS’ off-road ability. ABS comes as standard.
Currently, the BMW G 310 GS has no direct competitors but KTM is expected to get its 390 Adventure bike to India soon. The launch of the KTM 390 Adventure will surely make the competition stiff, until then, all the attention belongs to the BMW G 310 GS.
