New BMW Cruiser Motorcycle Spied On Test

BMW is likely to get a new cruiser bike to their range of motorcycles, but it still remains a mystery as to when will the bike be launched.

The bike gets mid-set footpegs instead of the front-set ones

The cruiser motorcycle was spotted on the roads of Germany, the test mule that was seen didn’t look like a prototype and was a near-production model. This has led us to believe that a BMW cruiser that will rival the likes of Indian Motorcycle and Harley-Davidson is soon to come in the market.

The bike seems to get a nice and thick pair of tyres to support the enormous bike and the weight that entails it. The windscreen on the bike is also big to minimise the wind blast that the rider would face during cruising. The bike is equipped with hard case saddlebags to accommodate the rider’s luggage. BMW has equipped the bike with mid-set footpegs rather than the front-set pegs as we have seen on the majority of cruisers. This is because of the protruding boxer engine. The instrument cluster also seems to be pretty big and features round dials. The bike is expected to host smartphone multimedia connectivity and other new technology.

The bike seems to be powered by an air-cooled, twin-cylinder, boxer engine. In the pictures, we can see a part of the cylinder head of the boxer engine peeping out on the right side. There are no specs as of now for the engine, but it is believed that it will be a larger capacity 1800cc engine. This engine will directly put the BMW cruiser against the Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special, Honda Gold Wing and Indian Chieftain Dark Horse.
