BMW Has Launched Their First Electric Scooter In India, The CE 04

BMW has launched their first ever electric scooter in India at a price tag of Rs. 14.90 lakhs, ex-showroom. It is India’s most expensive scooter to be on sale and the costliest electric two-wheeler as well.

Powered by 31 kW liquid cooled motor that produces 42 BHP and 62 Nm of torque, all the juice comes in from an 8.9 kWh battery (8.5 kWh usable) and it has a claimed range of 130 kms on one charge. A 2.3 kW charger comes complementary with the scooter and it takes about 4 and a half hours for a full charge. With the optional fast charger, it would take only 1 hour and forty minutes.

Although the scooter weighs 231 kgs, the motor propels the scooter from 0-50 km/hr within 2.6 seconds and 0-100 km/hr in 9.1 seconds. It has a top speed of just 120 km/hr and the seat height is long and accessible at 780 mm.

It gets a 10.25 inch colour TFT as standard and a slew of electronics which includes different ride modes along with traction control as well. The dimensions of this scooter are quite long making it one of the longest scooters on sale as well with a wheelbase of 1675 mm.

It runs on 15-inch wheels on both the ends while the front gets a 120-section tyre, the rear has a 160-section tyre. It also gets 265 mm disc brakes with dual discs upfront and a single disc at the rear.

First ever global showcase of the BMW CE 04 happened in October 2021 and it made its India debut in December 2022. After today’s official launch, the booking are now open and deliveries will begin from September 2024.
