BMW CE 02 Electric Scooter Launched, Priced At Rs. 4.50 Lakhs

BMW CE 02 electric scooter launched in India, 180 km range on single charge

BMW CE 02 launched in India at an introductory price of Rs. 4.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). Following the release of the CE 04 earlier this year, the CE 02 is positioned as a more accessible option, catering to urban commuters seeking a nimble and easy-to-ride scooter for city use.

Performance and Range

The BMW CE 02 is powered by an air-cooled synchronous motor paired with a 3.9kWh battery. This setup provides a certified range of 108 km (as per ICAT standards), making it a practical option for daily city commuting. BMW claims that the CE 02 can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/hr in just 3 seconds, offering zippy performance for urban riders. With a top speed of 95 km/hr, the CE 02 is also capable of handling highway conditions with ease.

Charging Capabilities

In terms of charging, the standard 0.9kW charger takes 5 hours and 12 minutes to fully charge the scooter, while an optional 1.5kW charger reduces the charging time to 3 hours and 30 minutes. This flexibility allows users to charge the scooter overnight or in shorter intervals, depending on their needs.

Design and Build

The design of the CE 02 is minimalistic and functional, with few body panels, giving it a streamlined and purposeful appearance. The scooter is available in two colour options: Cosmic Black and Cosmic Black 2. Built around a double-loop steel frame, the CE 02 features a USD fork and an adjustable monoshock for suspension, riding on 14-inch wheels. Braking is handled by a 239 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc.

Features and Variants

The CE 02 comes in two trims, with the higher-spec version offering additional features under the Highline package. The base version is equipped with LED lighting, a USB Type-C charging port, two riding modes (Flow and Surf), single-channel ABS, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Recuperation Stability Control (RSC), reverse mode, keyless operation, an anti-theft alarm and a 3.5-inch micro TFT display.

The Highline package adds an extra riding mode called Flash, along with cosmetic upgrades like golden anodised forks, coloured tapes, and a tri-coloured seat. It also includes heated grips, a smartphone holder with connectivity and the quicker 1.5kW charger.

Safety and Technology

Safety is a priority for the CE 02, which comes equipped with a range of features, including Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Recuperation Stability Control (RSC) and ABS on the front disc. These features enhance the rider’s control and stability, especially in challenging riding conditions.

Bookings for the BMW CE 02 are now open at all BMW Motorrad dealerships in India, with deliveries expected to begin in the coming days. With its combination of urban-friendly performance, modern design and advanced features, the BMW CE 02 aims to carve a niche in India’s growing electric mobility market.

This new offering from BMW reflects the brand’s commitment to providing eco-friendly transportation solutions without compromising on performance or premium features.
