BMW has introduced the 8-Series in India with 3 variants on offer.
The BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe has hit the Indian market with a starting price of Rs. 1.29 Crores. The German luxury carmaker has also launched the performance oriented M8 Coupe in India, which retails at Rs. 2.15 crores (all prices, ex-showroom).
Jumping straight to the tech specs first. The 840i comes with a 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder engine producing 340 HP at 5000-6500 RPM and 500 Nm at 1600-4500 RPM. This engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. 0-100 km/hr comes up in 5.2 seconds.
The BMW M8 is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo, 8-cylinder petrol engine producing 600 HP and 750 Nm of torque at 1800-5600 RPM. This too comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims 0-100 km/hr acceleration timing of 3.3 seconds.
The 840i Gran Coupe is available in regular and M Sport Edition variants. The latter having a sporty exterior and interior kit. Both the trims are highly customisable with BMW Individual exterior and interior customisation.
Some of the key features include Large two-part Panaroma glass roof, Adaptive Suspension, M Sport Differential, BMW Gesture Control, Wireless Charging, Wireless Apple CarPlay, etc. BMW Live Cockpit Professional coms with 3D Navigation, 12.3-inch all-digital instrument display, 10.25-inch infotainment system, etc. There is Park Assistant with Rear View Camera that takes over acceleration, braking and steering.
The safety kit includes 6 airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), electric parking brake, auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobiliser, crash sensor and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The BMW M8 includes all the features that the Gran Coupe offers excluding the panorama glass roof. The M8 comes with performance centric driving modes, xDrive all-wheel drive layout, M Sport Differential, etc. There is an M Mode selector that adjusts contents of instrument cluster displays and Head-Up Display. It can be used to activate ROAD and SPORT settings. M8 can be had with an optional Night Vision feature.
