The BMW 620d GT has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 63.90 lakhs (ex-showroom).
BMW has launched the 620d Gran Turismo in India. Locally assembled at BMW’s Chennai facility, the 2019 620d GT gets the entry-level 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The BMW 620d GT is now available across all BMW dealerships and carries a price tag of Rs. 63.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) and it is available only in the Luxury Line trim.
The BMW 620d GT is placed as a luxury sedan with the functionality of a coupe, providing comfortable long-distance rides. It shares its styling with the 630i. The bold BMW design for the grille, front bumper, rear apron and the tailpipe are finished in high-gloss Chrome. The mirror base, window guide rail and the B-pillar has been finished in high-gloss Black.
Coming to the interiors, the BMW 620d GT is spacious and provides generous headroom and legroom. It gets a two-part panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable seats and electrically operated sun blinds for the rear. It also gets aluminium door sill plates, sports leather steering wheel and chrome edging for all the AC vents. The interior sports a wooden finish with Pearl Chrome highlight finishes. The BMW 620d GT also gets the BMW Gesture Control, BMW Display Key and Welcome Light Carpet. The 8.8-inch digital instrumentation display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment device with support for Apple CarPlay is also included. The infotainment system also gets features like the BMW iDrive, BMW Navigation Professional, BMW apps. The 10.2-inch colour screens at the rear get HDMI connectivity for smartphones as well as options for connecting MP3 players and gaming consoles.
Under the hood, the 620d GT is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine featuring BMW EfficientDynamics and BMW TwinPower Turbo. The engine produces 190 HP and maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1750-2500 RPM. The vehicle has a claimed 0-100 km/hr time of 7.9 seconds and is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
The BMW 620d GT features BMW’s Driving Experience Control which allows selection of driving modes depending on the conditions. There are five driving modes viz. Sport, Comfort and Comfort+, Eco Pro and Adaptive. It also gets adaptive 2-axle air suspension which takes care of the ride comfort and handling dynamics. In the safety department, it gets ABS, HDC (Hill Descent Control), Side-impact Protection, DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Runflat tyres, electronic vehicle immobiliser, a crash sensor and an emergency spare wheel as well.
The BMW EfficientDynamics is also a first in the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo which is claimed to improve efficiency and performance. Aerodynamic measures like active air flap control for the grille, air curtains, air breathers and an active rear spoiler add to the performance. It also features 50:50 weight distribution, low centre of gravity, a lightweight construction, automatic start-stop, ECO PRO Mode and brake energy regeneration.
