BMW 3-Series, 5-Series petrol variants have been re-launched in our market again owing to rising demand for petrol luxury cars.
Demand for diesel cars was on the rise for the past few years. However, trends are now changing and in view of this, BMW has launched the 320i in India. The 320i is powered by a petrol engine and will be offered alongside the existing 320d line-up. Earlier, the 3-Series used to be offered in petrol guise under the 328i trim.
The 2016 BMW 320i has been priced at Rs. 36.90 lakhs for the Prestige variant and Rs. 42.70 lakhs for the Luxury Line variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle is brought down via the CBU route and it competes with the Mercedes C200 and the Jaguar XE. Despite being a CBU, BMW has priced the car competitively thus hoping to fetch good sales.
The BMW 320i gets a 2.0-litre TwinPower turbocharged petrol engine producing 184 HP of power and 270 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/hr comes up in a claimed 7.3 seconds. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The sedan comes with features like Auto start-stop, ECO PRO mode, 50:50 weight distribution, Park Distance Control, etc.
Apart from this, the German automaker has also launched the 520i which is powered by the same engine. The 5-Series petrol will again compete with the Mercedes E200 and the Audi A6 35 TFSI. The BMW 520i is available only in the Luxury Line trim and it is brought down to India via the CBU route. It is priced at Rs. 54 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 520i is available in 3 colours – Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue. Apart from this, the 5-Series is also available in 520d and 530d trims.
