The Figo hatchback is the most important car for Ford India, simply because it is the highest-selling model. The vehicle boasts of big levels of interior space and it also costs a little less than the hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20. Ford has no plans of replacing the Figo or to introduce another hatchback yet. For the past few months, the Ford Figo has been caught testing on the streets and yet another on-test Figo was seen recently. With prominent facelifts, the Ford Figo is all set to turn Ford’s fortune around. Along with the new sporty yellow color, that was seen few months back, now a new bright blue color is revealed. We expect a minimum of two new colors on the updated Figo.
There are prominent changes to the exteriors like the front indicators infused in the headlamps, are now moved close to the grille and below the headlamp. We think the new Figo will have the headlamp layout akin to the new Fiesta. Similarly, keeping the overall tail-light design the same, there are a few changes to the tail-lamp order like the brake lights have been shifted to the top and the indicators have moved down. The car may also get new bumpers and new set of alloy wheels. No major changes have been noticed in the interiors.
We are still waiting for official confirmation from Ford regarding the launch details, but the new Ford Figo facelift is expected to arrive this festive season. The Ford Figo facelift will encounter competition from the new Maruti Suzuki Ritz and the new Chevrolet Sail hatchback which is expected to be launched during the same period. We are not expecting any changes to the oily-bits in the Figo facelift – the update is mainly to imbue some freshness factor as the car will be around at least till 2014, when the next generation model will arrive.
