Bihar Government is working to ensure that vehicles are registered at the dealerships itself to eliminate the role of middlemen while the State is also working to manage traffic jams caused by buses and autorickshaws.

Diesel vehicles more than 15 years old will be banned in Bihar

The Government of Bihar has banned the use of diesel vehicles which are older than 15 years, in order to check the increasing air pollution in the state. Policies are also being formed to check the use of luxury vehicles with an engine capacity of 2000cc or more.

While announcing the reforms in Rajya Sabha, the transport minister also announced that the administration is forming policies to ensure that the vehicles are registered at the dealerships itself to cut down the role of middlemen while it also confirmed that it has issued four lakh smart cards in two months out of the total 7 lakh applications.

The minister also informed that special directions will be given to the police to make sure that autorickshaws and buses park only in the spots allotted to them and that the state has collected a fine of Rs. 4.33 crores from these vehicles for not following the rules between April 2015 and January 2016.

The government confirmed that it has collected a fine of Rs. 69,000/- for using pressure horns to which a minister from opposition suggested that these horns should completely be banned in the market and selling them should be a punishable offence which will cut out the problem from the source.
