The new Bharat Stage IV emission have led to 12 car models being phased out in the 13 cities where the new emission norms went into effect last week. Manufacturers decided to call it a day on these vehicles as upgrading to comply with the stricter norms would require significant investment which didn’t seem feasible due to poor sales performance of these vehicles. Some of the cars deserved to have been discontinued long time back but better late then never.
The cars that have been phased out are : –
- Maruti 800
- Skoda Octavia
- Skoda Fabia (petrol)
- Tata Sumo Victa
- Chevrolet Tavera
- Ford Ikon
- Fiat Palio Stile
- Mitsubishi Lancer
- Mitsubishi Pajero
- Hindustan Ambassador (finally!!)
- Tata Indica V2
- Hyundai Getz (to be phased out through out India)
