The British luxury automaker, Bentley, owned by the Volkswagen Group has come up with the world’s fastest four-seater convertible car. The new Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible is all set for its world premiere at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. It is a gorgeous looking convertible, sharing most of its technical elements with the Bentley GT Speed Coupe. The convertible features a W-12, 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged unit, which is capable of churning out a maximum power output of 616 BHP and 800 Nm of maximum torque. The 6.0-litre engine is coupled with the same 8-speed ‘quickshift’ ZF automatic transmission, found in the GT Speed Coupe.
The convertible comes with 420 mm front and 356 mm rear cross-drilled carbon ceramic brakes .The enormous power and torque is transmitted to all four wheels with a 40/60 front/rear default split. In order to provide better handling, the double-wishbone and multi-link rear suspension are updated with stiffer bushes and anti-roll bars, including a 10 mm lower ride height. The distinctive looks on the convertible boasts a dark-chrome treatment on the radiator grille and bumper air intakes, 21-inch ‘Speed’ alloys with optional silver or dark tint, oval exhaust tail pipes with a rifled finish and the ‘B’ badge sitting on a black enamel background on the hood.
The interiors feature Mulliner Driving Specification with diamond-quilted leather upholstery as standard, an infotainment system offering 15 GB of data storage and a navigation system with optional satellite imagery and live traffic data, Naim audio system, a range of wood veneers, a carbon fiber satin finish for the fascia and center console. The convertible weighs around 2,500 kgs, still the beast is capable of doing 0-100 km/h in around 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 325 km/h. We expect the Bentley GT Speed Convertible to be available with the Indian dealers during this year.
