Bentley came out with its first SUV at the Geneva Motor Show, where it immediately became the heart throb of many auto enthusiasts. We all know how Lamborghini has been able to grab most of the attention with its Urus SUV at the Beijing Auto Show, and it seems Bentley doesn’t want to lack behind either. The British automaker has announced the powertrain of the Bentley EXP 9 F SUV and sixty special editions of the 2012 Bentley Mulsanne sedan.
Bentley has not made it official whether the EXP 9 F SUV will come into production but they have announced that their forthcoming SUV will be powered by the current Continental lineup of engines. The concept as earlier stated is powered by a 600 BHP version of Bentley’s twin-turbo V12 and backed by a 8-speed automatic gearbox. Now the official announcement by Bentley states that the SUV will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 producing 500 bhp in the production model. This similar engine is used in the Audi S7 and S8.
The other options available will be the V6 plug-in hybrid motor, no power figures have been released but expect this to be similar to the motor powering the Volkswagen Touareg. Bentley hopes the hybrid to return an electric range of 30.5 kms and a 0-60 MPH ( 0-92 km/h) in less than 5 seconds. The official and exact reports and timings will be revealed closer to the launch of the EXP 9 F SUV and if Bentley announce the production version soon, we can expect it to come around the Paris Motor Show this fall.
