An Inaugural Edition Bentley Bentayga SUV has been imported in India from the U.K to Delhi by the company. The SUV is expected to cost northwards of Rs. 3 crores and is likely to be launched this quarter.
Recently Maruti Suzuki summarised the popularity of SUVs perfectly by this one quote at the Vitara Brezza launch ‘Unnchi is the new lambi’ meaning that the taller stance of an SUV is now more aspired by people than the long and sleek look of a sedan. Thus jumping on the same bandwagon, British ultra-luxury carmaker Bentley came up with the Bentayga SUV last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Bentley is expected to launch the Bentayga SUV in India in this quarter only, as Zauba.com data shows that a unit of the SUV has been imported in the country a few days back.
One unit of the Bentley Bentayga SUV has been imported by the company from its plant in the U.K. via air cargo to Delhi, where the company has its lone showroom in the country. The car has been imported with a declared cost of Rs. 1.38 crores but the SHV is likely to get a price tag of Rs. 3 crores plus in India. Bentley is expected to launch the vehicle in the country sometime in this quarter.
The Bentley Bentayga imported to India is a First Edition model with exclusive kit fitted to it which includes Union Jack badges on the front doors, carbon-fibre addenda and black insets in the 22-inch wheels. Only 608 units of the Bentayga First Edition will be built by Bentley. The company’s dealership in Delhi has confirmed that Bentley will start delivering the vehicle in India after 6 months.
Based on the MLB Evo platform of the second-generation Audi Q7, the Bentley Bentayga was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine which belts out 600 BHP of power and 900 Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-100 km/hr time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 301 km/hr.
