Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase offers customers 24 billion customisation options to choose from
After a slew of teasers on its social media handles in the last few days, Bentley has now unveiled its all-new Bentayga Extended Wheelbase SUV. It’s 180 mm longer than the existing Bentayga for better rear legroom.
The increased wheelbase now stands at 3175 mm with the overall length also increased to 5322 mm.
The new SUV gets an airline seat feature which, Bentley claims, is the most advanced seat ever fitted on to a car. Adjustable to 22 different settings, the rear seat can recline to 40 degrees in ‘Relax’ mode with a leather-wrapped footrest rising up.
Switching to another ‘Business’ mode will make the seat upright for better productivity on the move. The automatic climate control can now sense the occupants’ body temperatures and the level of humidity in the cabin to tune the air conditioner accordingly.
Pressure on the seats are also sensed by the car to provide automatic postural adjustments for a comfortable seating. A total of 177 pressure changes can be applied across 6 pressure zones over a 3-hour time frame.
Customers can also customise the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase with 24 billion combinations to choose from. The rear door and centre arm rests offer heating option while doors can now auto close for the first time on a Bentley.
Each front door now gets 12 LEDs and each rear door 22 LEDs which are covered in diamond-shaped leather perforations on the door pads.
The front grille is now updated and the car gets 22-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. The luxury SUV also sports rear-wheel steering that reduces turning radius to 11.8 metres.
Bentley says it had engineered 2,500 new parts for the increased wheelbase.
Available in 4 and 5-seat configurations, power comes from a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that exerts 542 HP and 770 Nm. The SUV can crack 100 km/hr in 4.6 seconds while the top speed is rated at 290 km/hr.
The Bentayga Extended Wheelbase is part of the luxury brand’s strategy to offer more derivatives of the existing models.
It has now joined the likes of the standard V8, the V6 plug-in hybrid, the Bentayga S, and the top-of-the-line Speed models. It will rival the Range Rover and the Mercedes Benz Maybach SUV.
Bentley recently revealed its Beyond 100 plan wherein its models will be electric-only by 2030 making it a carbon-neutral brand. The luxury brand will be releasing 5 electric cars starting from 2025 in this strategy.
As far as India is concerned, Bentley currently sells multiple variants of the Flying Spur, Continental, and Bentayga.
