DSK Benelli will be launching two new products in 2016 and the company will also start offering ABS on its entry-level bikes.
Benelli is striking the Indian two-wheeler market. The company recently launched the TNT 25 here and now they already have a couple of products lined up for a 2016 launch. Benelli will be launching the Tornado 302 as well as the TRK 502 in the coming year. Apart from this, the company will also be giving some significant updates to some of its other products too. The company unveiled the TRK 502 and Tornado 302 a month back at the EICMA motorcycle show.
The Benelli Tornado 302 is based on the TNT 300. It is a full-faired bike with sporty looks and yet there are certain old-school elements on the bike. The motorcycle will be competing with the Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC 390. The bike uses a tubular steel frame and comes with 41 mm USD front forks and a monoshock set-up at the rear. The 302 is powered by a 300cc, twin-cylinder engine that whacks out 35.4 PS of power and 27 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The motorbike will be assembled locally and will get ABS too.
The second bike that Benelli will launch is the TRK 502 which features a very rugged design theme. This adventure bike is powered by an in-line, twin-cylinder, 4-stroke 499.6cc engine that belts out 47.6 HP of power and 45 Nm of torque. The 502 gets a wet clutch and the engine is matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The TRK 502 will come with 17-inch wheels as standard while customers can also opt for 19-inchers. This bike will also come via the CKD route and will be priced upwards of Rs. 4 lakhs.
The government of India will be rolling out new vehicular safety norms from 2017 and the new rules will require car and bike manufacturers to provide safety features as standard in their vehicles. Much ahead of these safety norms, Benelli will start providing ABS in the TNT 25 and TNT 600i from 2016 itself. The Benelli line-up in India includes the TNT 25, TNT 300, TNT 600i, TNT 600 GT, TNT 899 and TNT 1130.
